Medical
professionals of our community had long cherished the idea
of having a professional body where they can interact and
work together for the collective good of the community. In
the year 1993, this idea was given the shape of a reality
when some of us gathered in the basement of a house in New
York. Discussions started well before the dinner and kept
us engrossed till the wee hours of the next morning. Before
we got up for the morning prayers, the concept of Imamia Medics
International had already evolved.
The implementation of this concept took another twenty meetings,
four hundred and fifty hours of hard work and coming together
of 35 medical and legal minds. Finally, on April 23rd, 1994,
IMI’s constitution was unveiled at the first conference
in Boston and was unanimously adopted at the first general
body meeting on September the 10th, 1994.
