IMI's 10th Annual & 3rd International Conference Concludes in New Jersey.

A team of 12 Doctors volunteered for IMI’s Hajj Medical Mission – 2005. These doctors worked day and night to make this mission a huge success. Mission’s activities started with pre-Hajj sessions, followed by activities during the Hajj.

Pre Hajj Session

  • IMI’s doctors first examined and issued medical certificates to the pilgrims – a necessary requirement for the Hajj Applications.
  • Pre departure Classes: During Hajj classes, IMI –HMM counters were set up where doctors developed Pilgrim’s Medical Record Book, issued medical advice, and attested their prescriptions for packing of drugs from the Ministry of Health.
  • Flu vaccination was offered to all pilgrims at lowest price in all Hajj groups.
  • Vaccination against hepatitis B was also given to many pilgrims.
  • Guidance was provided on Meningitis vaccination.
  • Brochures titled “Hajj-e-Baitullah Aur Aapki Sehat” in Urdu & Gujrati were distributed in Karachi and other cities of Pakistan.
  • Lectures were delivered by IMI doctors in different Hajj classes.
  • Meetings were arranged with Doctors, Ulemas & Hajj group organizers.
  • Coordination was established with Haj groups outside of Karachi

Activities in Saudi Arabia

The Central Clinic was established at Jarwal, Macca where maximum Indo-Pak Shia Groups were residing.  Throughout the period, the clinic ran for 4 hours and a doctor was available 24 hours at this clinic.

Another clinic was established at Awali, Madina that worked from December 25th to January 2nd. Seven clinics were established in different places daily at Macca & Madina.

Clinic was established at Arafat o 9th of Zih’hijja from 7 AM to 7 PM. A medical camp was organized at Maktab No. 37, well equipped with Wheel chairs, Carts, Oxygen cylinders with kits, Nebulizers, and two beds. More than 1000 patients attended this camp. Another small clinic was established at Maktab 20 also.

At Mina from 10th to 13th Zih’hijja in Maktab 37, a clinic worked 24 hours; about 2000 patients were seen.  Two doctors of IMI-HMM also served in Maktab 20 from 10th to 12th Zih’hijja.

IMI Doctors’ 4th Annual Get-together

Like previous years, a get together was organized on 5th Jan.2006 at Macca, in which about 40 doctors from different countries (Pakistan, India, UK, Sweden, UAE, Iran, Africa, Madagascar, USA) representing different Hajj Medical Mission i.e., World Federation KIAJ, European Hajj Medical Mission, Karvan-e-Hussaini London medical team participated. A lively discussion was organized on the topic: “How to improve medical services in Hajj?” After the discussion, a vote of thanks was delivered by the In-charge IMI HMM & dinner was served to all guests.

IMI doctors were invited at office of Wali-e-Faqih in Madina, where a meeting was organized with doctors, Representative of Ayatollah M. Reyshehri, and Press members of IRNA.

In another meeting, IMI – HMM met with Ulemas, group leaders of Pakistani groups (from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Sialkot, Sargodha, Skardu etc.) and Indian groups (from Mumbai, Hyderabad, Lucknow) and also groups from  UK, Madagascar, etc.   
Overall, it was a very well organized and well attended effort.
