and the United Nations

The
highlight of year 2002 was our official inclusion into
the 'Charter of NGOs' (Non Governmental
Organizations) by The United Nations Organization.
It was after years of hard work and persistence
that this could be made possible. Some facts and figures
related to this achievement are: |

We
are one of the 21 organizations round the world that
have been granted this status. |
° |
We
were invited to the United Nations Headquarters on 5th
& 6th of February to participate in a special inaugural
function. |
° |
Accreditation
by the UN increases the responsibilities of each of
us and especially of the Directors / Chapters here and
overseas. |
° |
We
have received unprecedented notes of support and congratulations
on this occasion. We thank you all for the support and
our Imam (ATFS) for bestowing this stature to our organization. |

Sister
Anna M. Raza - Incharge of our UN Desk and Dr. Wajih
Rizvi, Director Emeritus for the UN Desk deserve the
most credit for this unique accomplishment. |

IMI
organized a fund raising dinner in New Jersey, where
Dr. Belal Hasan was sent by the United Nations’
NGO desk as the special envoy. |
IMI’s
clinic in India was visited by a team of WHO and CDC
for coordination on Pulse Polio Program |
The
Department of Public Information (DPI) at the United
Nations is in discussions with IMI to include us in
some of the key healthcare committees of the UN. |
