IMI and the United Nations

The highlight of year 2002 was our official inclusion into the 'Charter of NGOs' (Non Governmental Organizations) by The United Nations Organization. It was after years of hard work and persistence that this could be made possible. Some facts and figures related to this achievement are:
°
We are one of the 21 organizations round the world that have been granted this status.
°
We were invited to the United Nations Headquarters on 5th & 6th of February to participate in a special inaugural function.
°
Accreditation by the UN increases the responsibilities of each of us and especially of the Directors / Chapters here and overseas.
°
We have received unprecedented notes of support and congratulations on this occasion. We thank you all for the support and our Imam (ATFS) for bestowing this stature to our organization.
°
Sister Anna M. Raza - Incharge of our UN Desk and Dr. Wajih Rizvi, Director Emeritus for the UN Desk deserve the most credit for this unique accomplishment.
IMI organized a fund raising dinner in New Jersey, where Dr. Belal Hasan was sent by the United Nations’ NGO desk as the special envoy.
